Rules of the Wasteland
Just like any other role-playing site, we have rules that must be followed. Don't fret, these are just some common sense sort-of things, but we don't think a friendly reminder will hurt. ;P
Basic
01. R-e-s-p-e-c-t, find out what it means to... us
Respect is a must when interacting with one another, be it an Administrator, a Moderator, or any Member on the site. Don't flame anyone, don't be rude towards anyone, no trolling, you know the drill.
02. One Account Per Character.
Every character you create should have their own account. This makes it easier to keep track of posts, and makes plotting much more efficient. So, if you're on Jack's account, and decide to make him a friend named Jill, you have to make Jill her own account. Got it?
03. 50 Posts to a new Character.
I know a lot of people love to make more than one character and we have no problem with you making as many character as you believe you can handle. However, we would like you to have 50 posts on every character you play before making another. That isn't too much to handle, right?
04. You'll get an A... for effort.
We accept all types of role players here, but please note that we do expect effort in your posts. We don't count words, we count substance. Obviously if you're fighting against someone, we don't expect a three to four paragraph reply... a one or two will do just fine, just as long as it gives your fellow members something to work with. I can't tell you how many times I've stared at a reply, going 'Well, they didn't give me much of anything to work with... so... what do I do?' You don't want to stump your friend, you want to encourage them to reply! Make sense?
It is also recommended to change the substance of your replies to better suit the person you are role playing with. Posting a three page reply to a new role player who can only manage two paragraphs might frighten them away.
05. Admin have the final say.
We will always try our best to keep things fair on the site. However, there are times when members may disagree. If such a time happens, the Admin will have the final say. If it's a fight over something unrelated to the role play, we will ask that conversation is ended or moved off the site. Please do not argue with the admin or mods. If you feel they are in the wrong you are welcome to notify another admin about the issue.
06. Be Active!
We can't RP if you're not active! Obviously stuff happens in real life that may take you away, but if something like this does occur, please drop us a message in the 'Absence' topic, which can be found in our OOC category.
If you play a character in an important position and go inactive, your character may be adopted by a more active member. We are determined to keep the plot moving, no matter what. However, if you give us notice of your absence, this won't be an issue. Just let us know!
07. Have FUN!
That's what role-playing is all about, isn't it?
In Character
01. PG 13 even if you are actually 54!
Please keep all vulgar subjects to a minimum. All Proboard sites must be PG-13. There will be violence, but please keep the descriptions of such activity within a respectable spectrum. All sexual content beyond kissing must be left to our imaginations. In other words, don't go overboard. I you would like to imply something happened, please have your thread 'Fade to black' and continue it after such actions have been performed.
On the other hand, swearing is accepted. It should, however, be kept to a minimal amount. Thanks!
02. We aren't quite Gods, sadly.
Don't Godmod or Powerplay. Its just unrealistic. For those of you unaware of what Powerplaying or Godmodding is, let me explain. Godmoding is when your character is so powerful, nothing ever harms him, but he destroys everything. Powerplaying is when you act or think for another players character. In other words:
You cannot control someone else's character. You can not be invincible. You cannot kill another person's character without permission. Hokay?
03. Like a Boss… In third person.
Please keep all posts in third person and in the past tense. I know this isn’t always easy. Even I mix it up often. Usually I tend to mix up my past tense. Grammar mistakes do happen. Don't panic over it, just try your best!
Correct: “Pie is the very best” Hermainstine said with a big smile.
Incorrect: “Pie is the very best” I said with a big smile.
04. Who am I? Unique.
Do your best to make your character unique yet still playable. Obviously we don’t want any mary sue’s (Characters with overly idealized and hackneyed mannerisms and lack noteworthy flaws). Also try to keep your character believable. Everything bad that could possibly happen to one human being is almost as bad as creating a mary sue. That doesn’t mean bad, or many bad things couldn’t have happened to your character. After all... this is a fallout based role play. Just keep in mind that the more negative accepts often causes more mental and physical issues with people.
All characters should have good aspects and bad aspects about them, just like in any real person. For example, Herminstine may be a magnificent cook, but he always seems to burn the dumplings. Flaws are common within every human but we still have our good sides.
05. Age.
This site supports characters of all ages. However, keep in mind that age can be limiting. A very young character wouldn’t be seen walking the streets alone. That being said, a very old character wouldn’t be climbing walls and chasing after Deathclaws either. Also keep in mind that proboards follows the American laws. That means minors should not be in sexual relationships with adults. Please respect this law.
06. Posts here, there and everywhere!
There is no limit to the number of Open threads you may have on this site. However, please try to keep a timeline on your threads and don’t enter more than you can handle.
07. Completed that chapter!
When you complete a thread, please change the title so it has a (C) or (Completed) at the end. An admin or mod will come along, give you any extra info you might need and will move the thread for you.
08. NPC's
You can create NPC at any time to support ideas you may have for your current thread. For example, if you need give a random command to a random recruit of the Brotherhood. All NPC's should only be used for minimal tasks and should not be used as a stand alone character. They also can not hold any important positions. So no leaders of Minutemen. If you create an NPC you really like you should either have them entered into the Notable NPC's list, or fill out an application to make them a full character.
The Cbox
01.R-e-s-p-e-c-t, find out what it means to... us.
What was that? I repeated a rule? That just goes to show how important of a rule it is! Respect is a must when interacting with one another, be it an Administrator, a Moderator, or any Member on the site. Don't flame anyone, don't be rude towards anyone, no trolling, you know the drill. Swearing is fine, just as long as every other word isn't a cuss, and that it abides by the Proboards Guidelines.
02. Admin have the final say.
Yet another repeated rule. We will always try our best to keep things fair on the site. However, there are times when members may disagree. If such a time happens, the Admin will have the final say. If it's a fight over something unrelated to the roleplay we will ask that conversation is ended or moved off the site. Please do not argue with the admin or mods. If you feel they are in the wrong you are welcome to notify another admin about the issue.
03. Advertising is a No, no.
As the title says, advertising in the cbox is not aloud. Keep all advertisements in the advertising boards.
04. Text Colours.
Please make sure that your text is readable. No black on black. Bwhahaha, got yah! You can't change your text colour in our cbox silly. It wont let you. But you know now in case you weren't sure. *Hides before someone decides to slap me*
Images
01. Image Content.
Please remember to keep all images pg13. Sure, your character can be nude, but the private spots must be covered. Nude Sailor Moon style! Your images should never be offensive or hurtful.
02. Face Claims.
All face claims should be 2D or 3D drawings. That means no real life people. You are welcome to draw your characters. Due to how difficult it could be to get a face claim for certain character *Ghouls, Super Mutants) you do not have to have a face claim.
03. Icons.
We have two types of icons in your profiles. The standard Proboards 150x150 avatar image seen around the forum, which is edited via the Avatar tab in edit profile, and a larger 200x350 image only seen in the mini profile, which is edited via a custom field on the Personal tab of edit profile.
04. Signatures
All Signatures should be no larger than 500x300 pixels. We don't want it stretching the page or taking up too much room.
05. Posting Templates
All images in a posting template should never have a width greater than 500 pixels. Everything else is up to you.
